Frames for white mats are a light silver grey metal, for black mats they are black metal. They are 1.25 inches deep and .4 wide with a light beaten pattern on the front surface.
Metal prints are made by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Most color images can be printed on metal, producing a very vibrant color and amazing depth in sizes ranging from 8 x 10 inches to 4 x 8 feet.
I’ve found that the most successful metal prints are from images with strong, saturated colors (The Seascapes images are particularly impressive displayed this way.) The subtle tones in the black and white polar bear photographs seem to be lost on metal and overwhelmed by reflections.
There are 2 styles of metal print:
The Float Mount Metal Prints suspend the print 1/2-inch off the wall when hung. Brackets are attached to the back of the print for hanging.
Flush Mount Framed Metal Prints have frames 1-1/4" deep with wire on the back for hanging.
The ultra-hard surface is scratch-resistant and can be cleaned easily with a damp cloth. While these prints are water resistant, they should not be displayed outside or, as with any photograph, in direct sunlight.
Please allow 2 weeks for delivery.
Because metal prints are special order items they not returnable. Metal is extremely difficult to photograph because of the reflections; if you are considering the purchase of a Metal Print and have never seen one, contact me and I’ll send you a sample.
All matting and framing meets conservation standards set by F.A.C.T.S. and F.A.T.G. (Library of Congress).
Photographs are printed with professional ink jet technology (“giclee”) using Epson K3 inks with the Epson 4800 printer. I use the latest rag papers for maximum archival permanence and these combinations of pigmented ink and paper have been tested under forced aging conditions to produce upwards of 100 years longevity.
Framing uses Plexiglas, rather than window glass, because of it’s optical superiority and lower weight. I believe that Plexiglas is a safer framing material in earthquake country, and the reduced weight makes it easier to hang and ship. All mats and frames are hand cut by me.
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, return it within 2 weeks in original condition for a full refund (less all shipping fees, which are not refundable). If any mats have been opened/damaged the order is not refundable. Special order Metal Prints are not refundable.
